Spring has sprung – can the tulips be far behind?

We certainly know it’s spring in the Ottawa/Gatineau area – record breaking temperatures, an impressive April snowstorm, the promise of May tulips poking through newly-thawed ground (some muddy, some dry!) and, of course, giant potholes on our streets! The area was also very lucky to be on the path for the solar eclipse… we hope you were able to, safely of course, enjoy this amazing event right in our own backyard!

Your executive has been busy preparing to welcome the presidents from the other 23 chapters across Canada to the 2024 national AGM. The presidents and the national executive will be gathering in Ottawa in early May to share best practices on everything from recruitment to events, writing engaging newsletters, volunteering and trip planning… Our chapter is very lucky to have a keen executive team and a very active and agreeable membership. Sadly, many other chapters are not as lucky and are struggling to ‘keep the doors open’. We’re hoping to leave the AGM with some exciting new ideas to ensure each of you keeps signing up and coming to our activities.

It will be a special AGM – not just because your chapter is hosting – but because we will be celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Heritage Club! In 1989 Canada Post set up the club as a formal program to commemorate the contributions made to Canada’s postal services by the company’s retired and long-service employees. Today the Heritage Club has 24 local chapters and over 20,000 members across Canada. We’re a great bunch of people and if you know retired or long service Canada Post folks who aren’t members of the club, you should encourage them to join the fun!
