Our first 2021 event ~ 2020 general trivia contest!

Even though we must stay apart, we can still get together for a night of fun…virtually!
Mark your calendars for Thursday, February 18 at 7:30 p.m.

Member Tim McGurrin has built a fun and challenging general trivia quiz that looks back on 2020. Yes, there will be some music, but the quiz will also cover general entertainment, pop culture, sports and other things that made 2020 so “special”. Members will be grouped in teams randomly as they sign up (couples playing on one computer will count as two players for the team).

Most of you have probably used Zoom already. If not, it is easy to log in using the link provided by the host, but if you haven’t used ZOOM, you may want to familiarize yourself with how it works before the game. It would be a great excuse to have a COVID-safe happy hour with a friend before the quiz! The host and moderator will set up the rooms and will do a walkthrough at the beginning so everyone is comfortable with the technology before the game begins.

Game time will be 7:30 p.m., but we encourage you will to join the meeting at any point after 7:00 p.m., especially if you are unfamiliar with Zoom. Some tips and tricks on how to use Zoom will be shared as of 7:00 p.m. We expect the quiz will take 90 minutes or so to play.

Tim will ask questions in rounds of five in the main Zoom room (you will also be able to see the clues in writing). We’ll all be virtually together for this part. The moderator will then put everyone into a ‘room’ where you will join forces with your teammates to discuss and record your answers. The moderator will invite/force everyone back to the main Zoom room at the five-minute mark. The process repeats for each round.

The winning team will receive bragging rights (of course!) and a special team prize, but the evening is really about fun and coming together… We’re going to limit registration to 50 members for this quiz.

Tim has volunteered his time to create and run the quiz. However, your club will be donating to a charity he supports, Shelter Movers, to thank him for his time.

To register for this free event, send an email to bytown.heritage.club@gmail.com by February 14. Please write QUIZ in the subject line.
