2019 events – we need your thoughts

Each year your executive plans a roster of activities that combine both group favourites (wine tours and theatre events) and new activities (mystery tours!). We’ve surveyed members and have done our best to deliver activities requested by members. We’re working to do the same for 2019, but we need your help.

We don’t want to dominate your social calendar, nor leave you wishing for more. So, this is what we’re looking at for next year:

LUNCHES: Our regular lunches, held the first Thursday of the month, for February, March, April (AGM), May and June. Also in September, October, November and December. As well, our “off-our-regular-schedule” lunch held this past summer was well received so we’re looking at a summer lunch (or maybe dinner) on the Market in July or August.

WINE TOUR: Save the date – we’ll be returning to the Niagara wine area for our fall tour. We’ve reserved our bus and booked the hotel, just working on tours, activities and dining options. Back, by popular demand, will be our pizza party night the second night of the trip. Mark the dates on your calendar now, the fun happens September 9 – 12. More details (cost, registration time, itinerary, etc.) to follow in the spring. Please do not reach out to us at this time to register for the wine tour. Registration will open May 1 and we’ll take your registration (with full payment) at that time.

FALL ACTIVITY: A one-day activity including dinner.

CHRISTMAS ACTIVITY: An evening activity, including dinner, to celebrate the holiday season. We’d welcome ideas from members on holiday activities or locations you’d like us to consider booking.

As well, we’re looking at three other spring/summer activities (based on previous survey results):

  • two-night trip to Toronto to see a Blue Jays game, a Broadway show (potentially Come from Away) and other area activities. Cost in the $500 (per person) range…
  • one-night trip to Kingston to visit the Kingston Penitentiary, a local brewery, take a historical tour other area attractions. Cost in the $300 (per person) range…
  • A follow-up, partial one-day mystery tour to see BOOM X (the sequel to the hit show BOOM that members saw two years ago in Gananoque) with other fun area activities. Cost in the $95 range…

As with ALL By-Town adventures, these trips would be partially sponsored by the club and are offered to paid members at below cost. These activities take a great deal of work to organize and we’d like to gauge interest first before planning them out. We are asking you to reply to this email and tell us – HONESTLY (really, honestly, we’re not asking for a deposit cheque but if you say you’re interested, we’d really like to think you’d be joining us if the trip comes to fruition…) – which trip (or trips, if you’d really do more than one) you’d prefer. We’re looking for your help to round out the activities for 2019. Drop us a line (or visit our Facebook page where we’ll ask the same question) and give us your thoughts.
