Quebec City tour details!

History, fun, food, fun and a bit of wine…

Get ready to put your hand up and say, “we’re in”, as we know you’ll want to be part of a very special trip we have planned for September (Tuesday, Sept. 11 to Friday, Sept. 14).

Departing on Tuesday, September 11 we’ll make our way to Levis (QC) to the Quality Inn and Suites Lévis. Your home for the next three nights features a heated pool, a fitness center and a hot buffet breakfast in a clean and comfortable environment. Along the way we’ll stop at Domaine des Cotes d’Ardoise (lunch and tasting), Château de Cartes (tasting) and another winery (to be confirmed). That night, if you wish to join the group, we’ll have dinner at the newly renovated local Scores restaurant that is walking distance from the hotel. You may also make your own plans for dinner.

The next day we’ll explore Île d’Orléans, beginning with a stop at a copper art studio, where everyone will create their own piece of copper art! Then we’ll tour Sainte Anne de Beaupré. For over 350 years, people of all ages have been gathering at this Shrine dedicated to Saint Anne, the grandmother of Jesus. Almost a million visitors visit the Basilica each year. For lunch, we’ll dine at Auberge la Goeliche, a restaurant with an exceptional view of the St. Lawrence River and fabulous food. We’ll start our meal with a welcome cocktail in the garden and then have lunch (including dessert and coffee). Then, it’s off to discover the wonders of the blackcurrent berry (and the liquors created from it!) at Cassis Monna & Filles. A quick stop at a local chocolate shop, where you may wish to purchase some local treats, and we’ll head to a local winery, Domaine de la source à Marguerite for wine tasting. Our final stop for the day will be a local brewery, Microbrasserie des Beaux-Prés. Members could choose to taste some local beer while enjoying snacks and the wonderful view of the water. We’ll wind our way back to hotel and, after some time to relax, come together in a hotel meeting room for a pizza and salad dinner. You can bring your own alcoholic beverages for dinner as we’ve purchased a liquor license for the evening. Rumour has it that a karaoke machine may find its way into the room so you may also want to bring your best singing voice!

Day three will be the day you explore Quebec City, to your liking. First, we’ll travel to Parc de la Chute-Montmorency. One of the province’s most spectacular sites, the Falls (which is higher than Niagara Falls!) dominates the landscape. We’ll ride the cable car to the top to get the best view of the region and have a guided tour of the area. Then we’ll travel to Old Quebec City where members can choose to explore the city as they wish. Or, for members who prefer a little shopping, you can stay on the bus and be dropped off at the area’s shopping mall with the most stores, Laurier Quebec. Travelers are on their own for lunch and dinner on this day. The bus will transport shoppers back to Old Quebec City for supper, and all travelers back to the hotel at 8:00 p.m.

Sadly, it will be time to pack our bags and head back home on day four, but the fun isn’t over yet! As we make our way back home to Ottawa we’ll stop at two wineries. Lunch, a tour of the winery and a visit to their animal park – on a wagon ride – at Vignoble la Bauge; and a tasting at Les Trois Clochers. We’ll arrive back in Ottawa around 7:00 p.m.
