Chapter business and elections
Chapter update and elections will begin at 11:30.  Watch for details about the election coming soon.

Causes of Choice 2017
Two organizations have been selected this year for the support of our chapter: Boots on the Ground (VETS) and the Gatineau Social Pediatric Centre.  Of course, the chapter will also continue to support Canada Post’s Community Foundation.

Boots on the Ground
Member Diane Pitre, who served several years in the military before joining Canada Post, suggested this organization. It “is important to me because lots of my brothers and sisters at arms who suffer from PTSD are homeless and suffering in silence. These soldiers have put their lives on the line for us, and it’s our turn to go out there and help them.” Boots on the Ground helps the growing number of homeless veterans in Canada get the proper care and connect them with Veteran Affairs.

Gatineau Social Pediatric Centre
For the past few years, under The Learning Partnership program lead by the Bank of Montreal, member Pierre Lemieux has been playing the role of a business mentor, helping area teachers and students create a business venture to raise money for a charity of their choice. Recently, a group of students at Philemon Wright High School in the Hull Sector chose to support the Gatineau Social Pediatric Centre.  Pierre thought the Gatineau Social Pediatric Centre was a perfect choice also for the By-Town Chapter.  Volunteers of “this beautiful organization give their time and medical expertise to help less fortunate children & families in the area, and many of our members are from this region.”  This is the first time By-Town’s support of charitable organization in the Outaouais.

Following elections, we will present cheques to representatives of these two organizations, who will take turns to tell us a bit about their goals and will answer questions from members.
