Canada Post seeks volunteers for “Amazing Race” – September 25, 26

CityChase is an “Amazing Race”-style race through the streets of Ottawa in support of the Goodlife Kids Foundation*. Winners of local races in cities across Canada are invited to compete in the national finals, held in a different city each year. This year’s finals are in Ottawa and the Chase organizers have asked if Canada Post might be willing to create a mail sorting challenge for the race. For the past four or five years, Canada Post’s Tim McGurrin has been working with a small but dedicated group of volunteers to develop the challenge, and it’s in pretty good shape. What is need now are volunteers to help set things up and run the challenge on race day!

The set up would be the evening of Friday September 25, or early morning on the 26th. The conference centre at 2701 Riverside has been booked, and it take more than an hour or two to complete the set up. The race organizers are planning the route and a 4-hour window will be estimated in which contestants are likely to arrive at Canada Post to compete, and hands and minds to assist in running the actual challenge during that time are being sought too.

*The Goodlife Kids Foundation raises funds to support national, provincial and local programs that promote sustainable physical activity opportunities for kids, removing some of the barriers that currently prevent children from living a healthy life. They’ve helped support physical activities through school and community programs for over 200,000 children to date.

Anyone is interested in volunteering should email Tim McGurrin, and he’ll provide you with the specifics. Contact Tim at tim.mcgurrin@canadapost.ca.
