Friends and colleagues: Most of you have heard me speak about Wayne Stremel, the Canada Post employee who is biking across Canada to raise awareness of the issue of mental illness and its impact on our communities.
He’s also raising funds for the Canada Post Foundation for Mental Health, a cause dear to my heart! Wayne is a remarkable guy, as evidenced not only by this incredible project he’s taken on (and the speed he’s accomplishing it with – he’s currently more than a week ahead of schedule!) and his commitment to the Foundation, but also by his personal commitment to physical and mental wellness and his terrific storytelling abilities. Wayne will be arriving at Head Office on Monday. I’m hoping to have a great crowd of supporters on hand to welcome him and acknowledge his remarkable effort. We’re also holding a fundraising BBQ, with proceeds to Wayne’s project. All money raised will be matched by Canada Post – making a doubly good donation to the Foundation!
Please join me in the courtyard at 11:30 (Wayne will be arriving about 11:45), stay for the BBQ (buy some ice cream too!) then pop into the Conference Centre at about 12:45 for a more intimate conversation/Qs and As with Wayne. I guarantee you will have a good time, eat a good lunch, support a great cause and hear some fascinating stories!
